US government aims to increase airport security

The US Department of Homeland Security has stated that “the rules may need to get tougher” at airports in the US. The call is associated with theories of new terrorist weapons designed to circumvent current airport security precautions.

New York Republican Peter King said: “The Department of Homeland Security is regularly reviewing our security procedures to adapt to the threat that is faced by our transportation system. A number of airports do not have the type of security that they should have. Basically, we’re saying that for anyone that would fly to the U.S., they would have to increase their security. We’re going to be pushing it. Overseas airport security is also a real concern.”

Besides considering enhanced airport screening measures in the United States, the US government may ask overseas partners to do the same at their airports.
