Unconfirmed reports state that Shaheen Air International has been operating in Pakistan without receiving a security certificate from the country’s security agencies, which is mandatory for all airlines before they start operations. Unconfirmed sources reported in local media state refer to secret documents that identify the owners of Shaheen Air International as Canadian nationals who applied for security clearance in 2014 but their request was turned down. Nonetheless, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) renewed and issued the licence for regular passenger transportation to Shaheen Air International on May 11 despite the lack of security clearance.
