QANTAS REPORT DUE BY TOMORROW

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is expected to conclude its examinations of the Qantas A380 Rolls-Royce Trent 972 engine by tomorrow. Sources have confirmed that the disintegration of the engine’s intermediate pressure turbine showered shrapnel into the A380’s wing cutting fuel lines and damaging the aircraft’s primary green hydraulic system, flap fairings, and rendering the leading edge slats and half the spoilers inoperative. The flight crew of five, which included a check and training captain and a check captain trainee, faced 54 error messages and some systems that allegedly did not behave as expected. The flight crew performed a wonderful job, maybe when the details emerge the local APAC press will commend Qantas for its staff.
