The Beijing Development and Reform Commission is investing 3 million yuan for studying policies on the construction of the new Beijing airport, located in Daxing in southeast part of Beijing. Construction on the new airport will start in the second half of this year, with the new airport scheduled to go into formal operation in 2019. The new airport will have seven runways and is designed to handle an annual passenger volume of 45 million in 2020, 72 million in 2025 and 100 million in the longer term.
