The Senate Committee on Aviation has directed the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) to suspend the new charges on airline operators following a complaint by airline operators that they weren’t allowed by law. Airline operators further complained that NAMA was asking operators to pay these charges in dollars rather than Naira. The fees have now been suspending pending consultation with stakeholders on the issue. NAMA has stated to the committee that it is empowered by the law to generate revenue for the country and that operators had a choice to pay either in dollars or Naira.
