MH17 families sue airline

The families of six crew members on Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, which was shot down over Ukraine on July 17, 2014, have launched a lawsuit against the airline for alleged negligence and breach of contract.

The airline is accused of failing to conduct an adequate risk assessment and charted a course through a known conflict zone, posing an unreasonable risk to those on board. The airline is also alleged to be guilty of breach of contract for failing to ensure the safety and well-being of the flight crew.

The families are seeking general damages for loss of support and services, damages for pain, suffering and stress, among others.
