Airlines are being invited to submit bids to operate a London-Newquay air link by Cornwall Council. The route is currently serviced by Flybe, but the airline will cease operating the route on October 25th, citing unprofitability. The UK Government announced last year that the route was eligible for subsidy under a Public Service Obligation (PSO). Adam Paynter, the Cornish Council’s Cabinet Member for Partnerships, stated: “All airlines are eligible to apply to operate the route and we anticipate that the publication of the notice will attract a great deal of interest.
