IATA has released passenger traffic reports for May that indicate a growth in demand of 6.2% compared to May 2013. The result is lower than the 7.6% growth seen during April, but overall the report indicates “improving demand drivers”. IATA CEO Tony Tyler said: “We are seeing healthy demand for air traffic to support and help sustain the pick-up in global economic activity.” Other figures released indicate that international passenger traffic rose 7% year-on-year, and capacity rose by 6% with load factors remaining steady at around 74%.
