Glasgow Prestwick airport is to receive nearly £7 million in investment from the Scottish government. The investment is designed to address a backlog of repairs and to make improvements to the terminal building. Ryanair is the only scheduled operator at the airport. In 2013, the Scottish government bought the airport for £1 to stave off its closure. The Scottish government stated that investment would be made “in the form of loan funding” and that £5.5m had already been provided since acquisition.
