Emirates suspended from adding new routes to China by the CAAC

Emirates has been fined 29,000 yuan (US$4,270) by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and has been suspended from adding any new routes into China for six months due to two separate safety incidents, which occurred on April 17 and May 18, 2017 in the airspace of the city of Urumqi in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The first involved an Emirates aircraft flying at a wrong height, and in the second an aircraft temporarily lost contact with air traffic control. Emirates crew has been held accountable for both incidents.

Emirates has stated that it will cooperate fully with the CAAC.
