EASA issues notice on flights to Israel

The European Aviation Safety Agency has published a notice strongly recommending that operators refrain from using Israel’s Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport in the wake of the escalation of conflict in the Gaza Strip and Israel.

The notice follows the US FAA’s published NOTAM FDC 4/3630 which prohibits all flight operations to and from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport for US-based operators.

The EASA notice reads:

“The Agency draws the aviation community’s attention to the possible existence of serious risks to the safety of international civil flights and the consequent airspace restrictions implemented.

“Recommendation(s): National Aviation Authorities should ensure that all aircraft operators are aware of the following information:
“The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) strongly recommends airspace users to refrain from operating to and from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport (LLBG).
In addition, EASA recommends to review and consider the current security threat as well as any available information and all relevant NOTAMs”
