EASA draws attention to Yemeni warnings

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued a Safety Information Bulletin (SIB) number 2015-05, which draws attention to the fact that French and US carriers have been banned from Yemeni Airspace due to safety concerns.

“National aviation authorities should ensure that operators under their oversight are aware of the above referenced publications,” EASA said.
The FAA has banned US carriers from flying in the Sana’a flight information region unless they have explicit permission due to the “potentially hazardous” environment for civil flights due to “ongoing military operations, political instability, violence from competing armed groups, and the continuing terrorism threat from extremist elements”.

France has also banned operations from Yemani airspace, adding to its conflict area overflight alerts.
