Cebu Pacific is eagerly awaiting an announcement from the European Union (EU) on its decision to remove the Philippines carrier from its airline blacklist. “We cannot pre-empt the EU pronouncement on this matter, but we are optimistic and hopeful for the outcome,” Cebu Pacific Spokesman Jorenz T. Tañada said. Cebu Pacific was blacklisted by the EU in 2010 when the Philippines Air Transportation Office (ATO) was demoted by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) from Category 1 to Category 2 status in 2008. Philippine Airlines was removed from the list last year.
