Boeing has filed a new patent for updates its sketches for its sonic cruiser design that was originally filed with the US Patent office in 2003. The patent however is for a new low-noise technology, which was added to the sonic cruiser as a demonstration. The technology works to reduce the level of jet exhaust noise but Boeing says the patent filing is simply to protect its intellectual property rather than an indication it is pursuing a new technological advancement in this area.
