Bangalore airport promotes jet fuel discount

The operators of Bangalore airport are in discussions with the regional government to reduce sales tax on jet fuel in a bid to encourage more airlines to set up base in Bangalore and promote tourism in the state.

Hari Marar, president of airport operations said: “We will be able to attract an airline to make Bangalore their base only if the tax levied on jet fuel is reduced.”

The policy is part of the airport’s ongoing plan to offer concessions to operators that can achieve a throughput of 1 million passengers, although those operators have been deterred until now by high regional sales tax.
