Some 19 US aviation-related companies have called on President Barack Obama to file a UN action (Article 48) to stop the EU Emissions Trading Scheme requiring foreign aircraft to pay for their carbon emissions. “An Article 84 action will prompt, rather than impede, agreement and implementation of a global framework for addressing aviation greenhouse gas emissions,” the groups, wrote in their letter to Obama.
