Air India has resigned with immediate effect from the Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA), the industry lobby group that it founded to push for reform.  FIA counted Air India, Jet Airways (India) Ltd, IndiGo, SpiceJet Ltd and GoAir among its members. Air India chairman and managing director Rohit Nandan said that it no longer needed a group to lobby government since it can just speak to them directly. Other sources suggest that Air India wishes to distance itself from the FIA because it disagreed with many of its approaches in the past.
