The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has approved Qantas Airways’ proposed alliance with American Airlines. The Commission states the partnership between the two carriers will not bring in ‘anti-competitive effects’ to the airline industry in general as both companies do not service overlapping routes between Australia and the United States. The approval means new service flights between Sydney and Los Angeles, Melbourne and Los Angeles and a Dallas-Honolulu service route, can be launched to the benefit travellers between the two countries.
