US Bureau of Transportation Statistics has reported that US airlines employed 2% more workers in April compared to the same month last year.

Employee numbers increased 4.5% Delta Air Lines; and were up 2.3% at Continental Airlines. Six low cost carriers – Virgin America, Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways, AirTran Airways and Southwest Airlines – all reported more workers.

Alaska Airlines and United Airlines, however, decreased employment.
