Wideroe flights delayed after technical fault grounds flights

Norwegian airline Wideroe was forced to ground eight aircraft on Sunday (June 3) due to a technical issue caused by errors with a software update. Although the aircraft were back in the air the following day, the grounding caused a knock on effect into the next week.

“On Thursday, all our aircraft got an update of the electronic system, and we have started getting error messages today [Thursday May 31],” the company’s spokesperson confirmed to local media. “We have had cancellations in parts of Finnmark, Nordland and Troms [counties] because aircraft were not where they were supposed to be. Passengers are being taken care of and rebooked onto later flights,”

The error messages were first discovered on four of the aircraft with spread to eight, which caused on domino effect on Wideroe’s flight schedule.
