Qantas Airways and Jetstar Contract Boeing 787 Fleet Component Support to AFI KLM E&M

Qantas Airways in association with Jetstar have entered into a long-term Component Pooling Services Agreement with AFI KLM E&M to support their fleet of Boeing 787s. This brings the total number of 787 customer airlines contracted by AFI KLM E&M to fifteen. The contract covers pool access and repairs and applies to a total fleet of eight 787-9s to be operated by Qantas, and the eleven 787-8s in service with Jetstar.

To guarantee maximum availability for the supported fleets, Qantas Airways and Jetstar will benefit from direct access to the AFI KLM E&M spares pool stationed at Kuala Lumpur and will be able to rely on its worldwide network of inventories and component repair shops, including AFI KLM E&M main facilities in Paris and Amsterdam.

Chris Nassenstein, Qantas Airways Executive Manager Engineering, said: “We are pleased to award AFI KLM E&M the 787 Component Pooling Contract. As a long-term supplier with a proven track record in supporting our A330 and A380 fleets we look forward to increasing our successful business relationship which is key to the On-Time Performance and operational efficiency of our fleets.”

For his part, Ton Dortmans, EVP KLM Engineering & Maintenance, said: “By jointly providing 787 component support for Qantas and Jetstar, we have once again demonstrated our ability to adapt our services to all airline business models.”

Fabrice Defrance, Senior Vice President Commercial AFI KLM E&M, added: “This is an important contract for AFI KLM E&M, which confirms our market strong position for 787 component support and further strengthens our position in the Asia-Pacific region.”
