PEMCO announces multi‐year Airbus A320 MRO

PEMCO World Air Services (PEMCO) has announced a new multi‐year contract extension with JetBlue Airways. Under the new agreement, PEMCO will provide aircraft heavy maintenance services for JetBlue’s large fleet of Airbus 320 aircraft for up to five years.

This is the fifth consecutive year PEMCO has been selected by JetBlue for its airframe maintenance requirements. PEMCO will realize an increase in JetBlue business volume annually and in the depth and breadth of services it provides to JetBlue.

Bill Meehan, CEO of PEMCO, stated, “The new agreement is a major economic boost for Tampa, Florida. Beginning in 2014 with up to two lines of A320 heavy maintenance, the new JetBlue program will support 200 Tampa‐based employees and will generate upwards $110M in economic impact annually for Tampa Bay.”

“No other recent development is more significant to our MRO division than today’s signing of a major new multi-¬‐year agreement with JetBlue. It is a testament to the standard of services performed by our team in Tampa each day -¬‐ from aircraft quality and reliability, to span time and regulatory compliance,” stated PEMCO president Kevin Casey. “Our Operations team takes pride in performing as a synchronized extension of JetBlue Airways, and we are honored that JetBlue wants to remain an integral part of the PEMCO/Tampa operation for the long term.”

“JetBlue has a strong presence in Florida and our continued partnership with PEMCO will support 200 jobs in the area. We’re committed to Tampa’s economic growth,” said Rob Maruster, JetBlue’s chief operating officer. “We truly value PEMCO as a business partner. We’ve had a great relationship over the past year. Therefore, we decided to continue with PEMCO for our airframe maintenance needs.”

Over the past four years, PEMCO, in concert with JetBlue’s Technical Operations team, has completed nearly 250 maintenance visits at its Tampa MRO base. The fleet maintenance award consolidates JetBlue’s Airbus maintenance lines between two Florida based MRO locations. PEMCO will support up to two lines of the Airbus A320 aircraft its worldwide headquarters in Tampa, Florida.
