MTU WINS €400 MILLION WORTH OF CONTRACTS IN THE FIRST QUARTER

In the first three months of this year, MTU’s Maintenance signed new contracts worth around €400 million. One of the largest awarded was by Atlas Air. The US carrier had started to send the CF6-50 and CF6-80 engines powering its Boeing 747 fleet to MTU Maintenance Hannover for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) back in 1999. Now the existing contract was expanded to include additional engines and renewed to run through 2020. MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg’s CF34 MRO team, too, succeeded in securing some attractive deals.

Dr Stefan Weingartner, MTU Aero Engines’ president and CEO commercial maintenance, says: “This strong order intake is clear evidence of the recovery of the market and of the trust our customers place in our capabilities. It will make a major contribution to securing jobs at Hannover and Ludwigsfelde.”

MTU Maintenance added 15 new airlines and operators to its customer base in the first three months of 2011.
