Parts manufacturer Spirit AeroSystems has announced plans to hire hundreds of workers in the first quarter of this year. The extra 200 workers are required as production on new and existing programs is increasing. The new hires will be made at plants in Wichita and Tulsa., and also at its Kinston, North Carolina, plant, where Spirit builds the center fuselage and wing spar for the Airbus A350. Spirit employs 14,000 people worldwide. The news comes as Boeing announces production rate increases on its 737 and 777 aircraft – Spirit builds the 737 fuselage and parts of the 777.
