Aviation mechanics are striking this morning. They are refusing to perform maintenance, repair or inspection work on aircraft over a contract dispute. A compromise bid offered by mediators was rejected and 900 mechanics went on strike at 5 am. The strike action affects Finnair, Blue 1 and Finncomm flights. If the strike goes on until tomorrow the airlines will have to cancel flights and even ground aircraft if it lasts until Wednesday. Foreign airlines are not affected.
