EGYPTAIR signs GE’s TrueChoice agreement for overhaul consulting

EGYPTAIR and GE signed a TrueChoice Materials agreement for maintenance, repair and overhaul consulting services to assist in the development of overhaul capabilities for the CFM56-7B* engine. The comprehensive agreement covers technical support and consulting for MRO operations, facility readiness, tooling optimization and other necessary services required to achieve facility certification.

With their intention for deeper cooperation, EGYPTAIR and GE agreed they will study the possibilities of operating EGYPTAIR engine shop together as a centre of Excellence in the region.

“EGYPTAIR Maintenance and Engineering is growing its MRO business and expanding its capabilities with the state-of the-art technology to be an independent MRO provider for various aircraft, aircraft engines and components. We look forward to working with GE to enhance our CFM56-7B MRO capability and be a major player in the MRO industry and more,” said Abou Taleb, Chairman of Egypt Air’s Maintenance and Engineering Company.

“EGYPTAIR is the only full-service MRO provider in Egypt, and GE is excited to help the airline through this TrueChoice Material agreement to extend its overhaul and repair expertise to the CFM56-7B engine line and help create high-tech employment opportunities in the region,” said Kevin McAllister, president and chief executive officer of GE Engine Services.

“This agreement between GE Aviation and EGYPTAIR will serve to further strengthen our partnership,” said Chaker Chahrour, vice president and general manager of Global Sales & Marketing for GE Aviation. “EGYPTAIR is one of the world’s pioneer airlines, and our collaboration on MRO efforts will continue in the airline’s long tradition of entrepreneurial endeavours.”
