TCX to lease A330 from AirTanker

UK charter operator Thomas Cook Airlines has signed an agreement with UK defence contractor AirTanker to lease an A330.

The aircraft will be converted from its military tanker/transport configuration to a 323-seat all-economy class cabin, and will be operated under a “damp lease” agreement involving the secondment of TCX flight crew to AirTanker for the duration.

The initial contract is for a three-year term. TCX chairman Christophe Debus said that Thomas Cook is “very open to extend this partnership. If everything goes according to plan, of course we are willing to extend this current deal for one aircraft, or maybe to add some other aircraft.”
