UBS cuts profit predictions for Westjet but airline still top pick

UBS analysts have cut profit prediction for Westjet’s for 2010-2012 by 16% due to the airline’s “significant” expansion plans that could impact load factor expansion.

However, the brokerage’s forecasts remain above consensus and represent annual average earnings growth of around 30% over the next three years and the airline remains its top pick of all Canadian airlines.

UBS analysts have also highlight Air Canada for gains due to its exposure to high-yield international and premium traffic, and improving liquidity. But also warns it could be the first to take a hit should the downturn hit again as it is highly leveraged.
