STELIOS FORMS EASYHOLIDAY

EasyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ionnaou is reported to be setting up easyHoliday – a rival company to easyJet Holidays, which is jointly owned by easyJet and accommodation provider Lowcosttravelgroup.

The new online venture will offer cheap flights and hotels from late next year, according to a report in the UK’s The Sunday Telegraph newspaper.

Haji-Ionnaou owns the rights to the easy brand but currently leases the rights to the airline and the holiday company for a small stake in both company’s annual profits. Under the terms of the deal, from October 2011, Haji-Ionnaou will be free to launch a competing business using the easy brand.
