Lan Airlines is planning to invest some $7.72 billion in the next seven years to more than double its cargo and passenger fleet. The Chilean airline yesterday posted record third quarter profits on the back on increased cargo traffic. Its cargo capacity is set to expand by 15%, with passenger capacity by the same amount if not more. The airline plans to invest $1.15 billion next year, from $424 million this year, and increase its aircraft to 222 in the next eight years.
