Uttlesford District Council has had to write off a business rates bill of £1.12m owed by Eighteen Aviation Limited, trading as Aero Toy Store which keeps aircraft at Stansted Airport and has defaulted on its 2012-13 business rates. The council took legal proceedings against the firm but was told recovery was unlikely. Eighteen Aviation, which occupies the former FLS 18-acre Diamond Hangar at Stansted Airport, said it was aware of the decision and was working with advisers and is in touch with the council.
