Eighteen Aviation racks up £1.12m tax bill

Uttlesford District Council has had to write off a business rates bill of £1.12m owed by Eighteen Aviation Limited, trading as Aero Toy Store which keeps aircraft at Stansted Airport and has defaulted on its 2012-13 business rates. The council took legal proceedings against the firm but was told recovery was unlikely. Eighteen Aviation, which occupies the former FLS 18-acre Diamond Hangar at Stansted Airport, said it was aware of the decision and was working with advisers and is in touch with the council. Aero Toy Store is based at Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
The council is continuing with legal action which is aimed at winding the UK company up to stop it trading and prevent further irrecoverable funds falling due.
