LUFTHANSA BIOFUEL FLIGHTS TO START ON FRIDAY

Deutsche Lufthansa will begin biofuel-powered flights on Friday, some three months later than planned. The delay was caused by a longer-than-expected wait for authorisation.

The first biofuel flight, an Airbus A321, on Friday will fly from Hamburg to Frankfurt.  The airline plans to use renewable fuel on this regular route for six months from April.

The aircraft uses a blend of renewable jet fuel and fossil-based jet fuel in one engine, while the other engine will use conventional jet fuel.
