Nippon Cargo Airlines suspends operations

Nippon Cargo Airlines says that it will temporary suspend all aircraft operations following the discovering of one “inappropriate maintenance record concerning the lubricating oil supply to the aircraft parts (for JA14 KZ) at Narita airport on April 3, 2018”.

In what the company described as “an abundance of caution”, it had decided to temporarily ground all aircraft until all maintenance records have been confirmed appropriate.

All of the details are under investigation, and the company says it expects at least about one week to confirm aircraft safety.

The inaccurate maintenance logs were discovered during inspections by Japan’s transport ministry, which were initiated after Nippon Cargo planes collided with birds in January 2017 and March 2018, requiring what the ministry deemed to be major repairs that the company failed to report.
