Iranian Boeing 707 crash-lands in wrong airport

A Boeing 707 cargo plane belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) crashed while landing at wrong airport in Karaj, northern Iran, killing at least 15 people. A flight engineer is reported to have survived and was transported to a hospital. The aircraft was scheduled to land at Karaj’s Payam International Airport (PYK) but the flight crew descended towards Fath private aerodrome with a runway that is almost four times shorter. The aircraft overran the runway and ended its course in a residential area, bursting into flames.
