Emirates opens new cool storage facility

Emirates has opened a new 4,000 square metre cool storage facility at Dubai International airport, called “SkyPharma”. The facility forms part of a wider Dh600 million expansion of Emirates’ cargo facility “SkyCentral” at the airport. Emirates already has a similar facility at Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central.

Emirates is seeking to capitalize on growing pharmaceutical trade between India and the US, and from Europe to Asia. The airline’s pharmaceutical cargo currently account for about six to seven percent of all cargo carried. The new facility will enable Emirates to grow its pharmaceutical business “much faster” than 25 per cent annually.
