Cargolux completes fifth freedom service

Cargolux Airlines has completed its fifth-freedom service that took off from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport¬† on May 19 to Chicago. The 747-8F fifth freedom allows an airline to carry revenue traffic between foreign countries as a part of services connecting the airline’s own country. It is the right to carry passengers or cargo from one’s own country to a second country, and from that country to a third country (and so on), which has great economic significance.

Currently airports in China where fifth-freedom services have been launched are limited to cargo transport, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Nanjing, Yantai, Wuhan, Xiamen, Haikou, Yinchuan, Zhengzhou, etc.
