Virgin Atlantic has announced that the first of its upcoming B787s will enter service from London Heathrow to Boston on October 28th. The aircraft will be the first of the 787-9 variant to enter service in Europe, and all of Virgin’s first tranche of 787s will be deployed on US East Coast routes. According to CEO Craig Kreeger, Virgin has 17 787s on order, and expects the type to comprise half of its total fleet by 2018.
