Velvet Sky a new airline flying between Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg is expected to start flights in 2011. Its website states that “the countdown has begun” and has been advertising pilot vacancies. The airline’s backers have not yet been made public although the South African Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed it is evaluating an application for an air operator certificate for a company which it declined to name.
