New Taiwanese low-cost carrier V Air, which is wholly owned by TransAsia Airways, will launch services in December 2014. V Air will fly from Taipei to Bangkok on December 17, followed by a Chiang Mai service in early 2015, to compete against Tigerair Taiwan, which launched in September 2014 as the first low-cost carrier commencing operations in Taiwan. The airline received its first A321 aircraft in the V Bear livery in October.
