United Airlines has confirmed talks with its maintenance workers union over a new contract have paused after American Airlines tentatively agreed to a wage increase. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters said its workers had been offered “significant pay rises” by United but American’s offer to its own workforce had “reset the market”. Clacy Griswold, lead negotiator for the Teamsters, said: “Delta and American are setting the pace and United is dragging its feet. Our hardworking aviation professionals deserve industry- leading pay and benefits and will settle for nothing less.” United talks with the Teamsters will reconvene in two weeks.
