It has been reported that United Continental is close to an agreement to replace Chairman Henry Meyer III, who replaced former Chief Executive Jeff Smisek in September, as part of a broader board overhaul, according to Bloomberg. Shareholders Altimeter Capital Management and PAR Capital Management have been campaigning for Meyer’s departure, and is seeking a successor with more airline experience. Former Air Canada CEO Robert Milton and James Whitehurst, a former chief operating officer at Delta Air Lines, are named as the frontrunner for replacing Meyer. However, negotiations are ongoing and a final agreement has not yet been reached.
