The UK Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has stated in his annual budget that the country needs to find a solution to the lack of airport capacity in the southeast. As the coalition government ruled out a third runway at London’s Heathrow airport, which currently operates at 99% capacity, another solution is needed to ease the congested airspace in the southeast of the country. The Transport Secretary will set out the government’s thoughts on the issue “later this summer,” said Osbourne.
