TAP staff to strike

In a protest over budget, pay and job cuts, staff at TAP plan to on March 21-23 – overlapping industrial action by staff at Iberia who plan intermittent stoppages between March 18-22.
The TAP action has been endorsed by eight unions representing pilots and workers at the Portuguese carrier, which wants blanket public sector pay cuts of 10% to be halted for airline workers. They argue that since TAP has been profitable for two years and any losses are being absorbed by the airline rather than depend on public bailouts.
TAP states that it will take measures to minimise losses and discomfort to passengers.
