STEADY GROWTH REPORTED BY AIR ARABIA

Air Arabia second-quarter profit has risen by 2% to Dh51 million from Dh50 million while turnover increased 22% to Dh592 million from Dh485 million in the same period in 2010.

The low-cost airline carried 1,161,944 passengers in the second quarter – a 5% increase compared to 1,108,310 last year. Load factor remained steady at 82.5%.

Although high fuel costs and turmoil in the middle east, Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammad Al Thani, chairman of Air Arabia, said the airline has achieved steady growth and solid profits for the second quarter, thanks to its “focused business model and appealing product”.

Al Thani expects this growth to continue for the rest of the year, spurred on by business traffic to November’s Dubai Air Show and the demand for low-cost winter getaways.
