Southwest Airlines has filed a lawsuit against Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA), the mechanics union, claiming that an illegal work slowdown is disrupting flights. The airline has been forced to cancel some services as maintenance issues are flagged in four maintenance locations. Southwest claims the workers are pulling planes out for service to gain leverage in their contracts. The number of out of service aircraft spiked to 62 in recent weeks, against an average of 14. Southwest states that it is investigating the current disruption.
