Japanese LCC Skymark Airlines has postponed the delivery of its first A380 by up to six months as its internal cabin configuration has failed to meet required specifications and will be redesigned. The delay will push the inaugural service of the aircraft, set to be launched on the Tokyo Narita-New York JFK route, to summer 2015. President and CEO Shinichi Nishikubo stated that “there’s no change to the contract. We still intend to take delivery of all six A380s.” Skymark said it would release further details of the postponement and new in-service target dates in July.
