SIA launches A380 services to India

Singapore Airlines will launch daily A380 services to both Mumbai and New Delhi with effect from May 30, 2014 replacing current 777 services. “We have been keen to operate the Airbus A380 to India and are glad that the Air Services Agreement between Singapore and India now allows us to do so,” said SIA Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, Lee Wen Fen.

The carrier has 19 A380s at present and is pulling the A380s from other routes to operate them to India. It will be very interesting indeed to observe load figures over the next 12 months to see how changing a 777 to an A380 affects the economics on a route.
