RwandAir and Ethiopian gain traffic rights to South Sudan

RwandAir and Ethiopian Airlines have been granted fifth-freedom traffic rights between Entebbe/Kampala and Juba by the Ugandan Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA). The regulator had previously withdrawn the AOCs of all Ugandan domestic operators after an inspection by the ICAO had revealed multiple instances of non-compliance with procedures and regulations.

Ethiopian’s Entebbe station manager, Abebe Angessa, said: “We have had fruitful discussion and that is what we have always been looking at. We are setting aside a plane for that route as a way of accommodating the anticipated traffic. We are positive that this will be a great boost to both parties.”
