The Quebec government has asked Quebec Superior Court for a declaratory ruling that Air Canada broke its 1988 privatization law by ceasing major maintenance of its aircraft in Montreal and wants the high court to order the airline to resume maintenance operations at Dorval. Aveos Fleet Performance performed most of Air Canada’s heavy maintenance, but the airline complained its prices were not competitive. Air Canada now says that it continues “revision” of its aircraft in Montreal, even when the actual work is done elsewhere, and this respects its 1988 commitment.
