Qantas Airways has indicated it could raise fares and surcharges to help the airline meet the soaring costs of fuel. Chief executive Alan Joyce said that Qantas is unlikely to be the only airline to pursue this strategy as airlines seek to turn a profit in recession with soaring oil prices. Singapore Airlines stated it would have to increase fuel surcharges on December 2, while other large airlines have said their charges were under review.
